FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything you need to know about King Kanine and our products.

Is CBD safe for dogs?

Yes. King Kalm CBD is derived from broad spectrum hemp, CO2 extracted, and third-party lab tested. It contains no THC, pesticides, heavy metals, or artificial additives. As with any supplement, we recommend consulting your vet before starting, especially if your pet is on medication.

Does CBD get dogs high?

No. King Kalm CBD is made from hemp and contains no detectable THC, the compound responsible for psychoactive effects. Your dog will not get high. Broad spectrum processing removes THC while preserving the beneficial cannabinoids.

Is hemp CBD different from marijuana?

Yes. Both come from the cannabis plant, but hemp contains less than 0.3% THC by federal law. King Kalm is derived exclusively from hemp. It has no psychoactive effect and is legal nationwide.

Can dogs overdose on CBD?

CBD has a wide safety margin. There are no known cases of fatal CBD overdose in dogs. Giving too much may cause temporary drowsiness or loose stools. Always follow the dosing chart included with your product and start at the lowest recommended dose.

Are there side effects of CBD for dogs?

Most dogs tolerate CBD well. In some cases, typically at higher doses, mild drowsiness or loose stools may occur. Start low, monitor your pet over a few days, and adjust as needed.

Is CBD legal for pets?

Yes. Hemp-derived CBD with less than 0.3% THC is federally legal in the United States under the 2018 Farm Bill. King Kalm contains no detectable THC and is fully compliant.

Is hemp oil the same as CBD oil?

No. Hemp seed oil is cold-pressed from hemp seeds and contains no CBD. Hemp CBD oil is extracted from the flowers and stalks of the hemp plant and contains cannabidiol. King Kalm uses hemp-derived CBD oil, not hemp seed oil.

Can I give my dog my human CBD oil?

We do not recommend it. Many human CBD products contain xylitol, essential oils like peppermint or tea tree, or other ingredients that are toxic to dogs. King Kalm is formulated specifically for pets with safe, species-appropriate ingredients.

Why is pet CBD different from human CBD?

Pet CBD is formulated without ingredients harmful to animals, uses pet-appropriate dosing, and is suspended in pet-safe carrier oils. King Kalm uses Antarctic Krill Oil, rich in omega-3s, because it is both beneficial and highly bioavailable for dogs and cats.

DOES IT WORK?

Does CBD really work for dogs?

Dogs and humans share the same Endocannabinoid System (ECS), a network of receptors that helps regulate mood, pain response, inflammation, and sleep. When activated by CBD, the ECS can have a meaningful effect on your pet's behavior and comfort. Many King Kanine customers report noticeable improvements within 2 to 4 weeks of consistent daily use.

How long does CBD take to work in dogs?

It depends on the goal. For situational anxiety such as storms, fireworks, or travel, administer 30 to 60 minutes before the event. For chronic conditions like joint discomfort or persistent anxiety, most owners see meaningful results after 2 to 4 weeks of daily use. Consistency is key.

Does CBD help with dog anxiety?

Yes, supporting calm behavior is one of the most common reasons owners choose King Kalm. CBD interacts with ECS receptors involved in mood regulation and may help reduce anxious behaviors without sedation. It can be used daily for baseline calm or situationally before stressful events.

Does CBD help with dog arthritis or joint pain?

CBD's anti-inflammatory properties make it a popular choice for dogs with joint stiffness and mobility challenges. Many owners of senior dogs report improved movement, increased activity, and a better quality of life after consistent use.

Can I give CBD before fireworks or thunderstorms?

Yes. Administer King Kalm CBD 30 to 60 minutes before the anticipated event. This gives the CBD time to engage with your dog's Endocannabinoid System and may support calmer behavior during the experience.

Will CBD calm my dog during car rides?

Many owners use King Kalm before travel with good results. Administer 30 to 60 minutes before the trip. Dogs prone to motion anxiety or travel stress often show noticeable improvement in calm and focus.

Can CBD help with separation anxiety?

Separation anxiety is one of the most common reasons owners turn to CBD. Daily use of King Kalm may help regulate your dog's baseline stress response over time, with an optional situational dose before you leave.

Can CBD help older dogs with mobility?

Senior dogs with stiff joints or reduced mobility are among the most frequent King Kalm users. CBD's anti-inflammatory support may help older dogs move more comfortably and stay active longer. Many owners notice a meaningful difference within a few weeks.

Can CBD help dogs with seizures?

Some research suggests CBD may support neurological function. However, we are not permitted to make medical claims. If your dog has a seizure disorder, please consult your veterinarian before introducing any supplement.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT PRODUCT

What is the best CBD oil for dogs?

The best CBD for dogs is broad spectrum, CO2 extracted, third-party tested, and suspended in a bioavailable carrier oil. King Kalm meets every one of those criteria and goes further by suspending the CBD in high omega-3 Antarctic Krill Oil for superior absorption.

What strength should I choose?

Use this guide: Under 20 lbs, choose the 75mg bottle. 21 to 50 lbs, choose the 150mg bottle. Over 50 lbs, choose the 300mg or 600mg bottle. When in doubt, start with the lower strength. You can always increase the dose.

Oil vs treats: which is better?

Oil absorbs faster and allows precise dose control. It is the preferred method for maximum effectiveness. Treats are more convenient and great for on-the-go use. We recommend King Kalm CBD Oil as your primary supplement, with King Kalm Crunch as a supplemental option.

Full spectrum vs broad spectrum vs isolate: what is the difference?

Full spectrum contains all cannabinoids including trace THC. Isolate is pure CBD only. Broad spectrum, which is what King Kalm uses, retains the beneficial cannabinoids and terpenes that produce the entourage effect while removing detectable THC. We recommend broad spectrum for pets.

What ingredients should I avoid in pet CBD?

Avoid any product containing xylitol (toxic to dogs), propylene glycol, artificial flavors, or synthetic preservatives. King Kalm contains none of these. Just broad spectrum hemp CBD, Antarctic Krill Oil, and a third-party tested clean formula.

Do veterinarians recommend CBD?

The FDA has not formally approved CBD for pets, but many veterinarians are open to discussing it as a supplement. We always recommend talking to your vet before starting, particularly if your pet takes any medication, as CBD may affect how certain drugs are metabolized.

DOSING & USAGE

How do I know which strength to choose?

There are many factors in choosing the right milligram bottle. Use this guide:

  • Small pet (20 lbs and under): 75mg bottle (~2.5mg per 1ml)
  • Medium pet (21 to 50 lbs): 150mg bottle (~5mg per 1ml)
  • Large pet (over 50 lbs): 300mg or 600mg bottle (~10 to 20mg per 1ml)

How do I dose King Kalm CBD?

Each box of King Kalm CBD comes with a dosing chart and an oral syringe. Use the syringe to measure the recommended amount based on your pet's weight and administer directly into their mouth or mix with food.

This product has not been approved by the FDA and is not intended to treat, diagnose, or cure any disease. Always consult a veterinarian prior to use.

How do I give my pet the oil?

Each box comes with an oral syringe to administer directly into their mouth, the preferred method for maximum absorption. You can also add it to your pet's food as a second option.

How much CBD should I give per pound of body weight?

A general starting guideline is 0.25mg to 0.5mg of CBD per pound of body weight, once daily. Every King Kalm product includes a printed dosing chart and an oral syringe calibrated to your pet's weight so you never have to guess.

Is the 600mg bottle too strong for my dog?

Not if your dog is over 50 lbs. The 600mg bottle is formulated for large dogs, delivering approximately 20mg per 1ml dose. For dogs under 50 lbs, start with the 75mg or 150mg bottle.

Is King Kalm given more than once a day?

Administer the dose once a day and monitor how your pet responds. Take notes on their signs and symptoms over a few days to weeks. Make adjustments based on their response.

Can I give CBD to my dog every day?

Yes. King Kalm is designed for daily use. Like most wellness supplements, consistency produces the best results. Think of it as part of your pet's daily health routine rather than an on-demand treatment.

Once I start CBD, do I always give it to my pet?

Consider it this way: once you decide to eat healthy, you must continue eating healthy to gain the benefits. CBD is a lifestyle supplement, and like all wellness routines, consistency is key to achieving the best results.

How much CBD is in King Kalm Crunch treats?

There are approximately 2 to 3 milligrams of CBD per treat and approximately 30 treats in each 8oz bag.

How does King Kalm help with my pet's health?

The FDA prohibits us from correlating our products with the treatment of any medical condition. We recommend trying King Kalm for at least 30 days to observe any changes in your pet.
